action

introduction

The series begins with the escape of Rhons from the 30th century. His father tries to stop him with the words "His dream of Atlantis is just a dream" - an allusion to that of Dr. Berrnard composed the piece of music "The Dream of Atlantis" and the search by Dr. Count after the mysterious Atlantis .

content

Rhon, a 12-year-old boy from 3000, is the son of a scientist who helped develop time machines . His uncle - Dr. Graf - is accused by the Academy of Sciences of violating the fundamental law of time travel , namely not changing the past. For this reason, Rhon embarks on a journey into the past.

Rhon suspects his uncle in the Chateau Noir, the secret meeting place for time travelers in the 16th century. There he does not find him, however, but only finds a city map of Berlin from the 20th century, on which Fontanenstrasse 19 is marked and a music box which also contains a voice message.

However, Rhon is pursued by men from the future in the year 1638, who sabotage his machine (AL-2) there. When Rhonn set out on a journey into the 20th century, he noticed the defect in the energy storage device (which works with mercury). He made a makeshift seal and began the time flight. Due to the defect, it is only able to bridge about 400 years. He reached 1982 with the last of his energies, which forced him to make an emergency landing.

Rhon bursts into the middle of Mark's birthday party, who has just turned twelve. He needs mercury to fix his time machine. When the strange boy tells Mark that he comes from the future and needs his help, he doesn't believe him. But then Rhon shows him the machine and, after the AL-2 is fully functional again, both go on a trip to Vienna in 1791 to visit the composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart , who was plagued by a creative crisis .

Surprisingly, they meet a man in Vienna, Rhon's uncle Dr. Graf looks confusingly similar. It turns out that this is the over 200 year old, crazy alchemist Edward Kelley , who is in possession of the elixir of life from Atlantis . However, his water of life is running out, which is why Kelley forces access to the time machine. With their help, he plans to return to the Rudolfinian era in order to get a vial with the elixir of life.

He steals a second time machine, previously killing Dr. Bernhard, a companion of Dr. Graf, forces Mark to take a trip to Prague in the 16th century, and is then involved in an accident in the 20th century. He comes to the hospital, from where he immediately escapes.

Dr. Graf and Rhon, who were in the meantime again in the future, visit Mark and learn from him about the death of Dr. Bernhard and Kelley's disappearance. A wild chase begins: Rhon, Mark and Dr. Count go to Prague in 1610, where they suspect Kelley. However, they are arrested there by soldiers and mistaken for magicians . Rudolf II takes the determinator for the time machine from them and forces them to produce gold for themselves. Kelley also shows up in Prague at the same time, together with Mark's little sister Judy.

Judy, who was able to relieve Rudolf II of his agonizing headache, was received in a princely manner at the imperial court of Rudolf II. She even manages to get the determiner back. Meanwhile, Kelley steals the map of Atlantis, but is followed by Mark and Rhon. Dr. Graf, Mark, Rhon and little Judy are able to escape from Prague and pursue Kelley, whose time machine crashes in Pharaoh Akhenaten's Egypt . Kelley, weakened by radiation sickness , dies .

Dr. Graf takes the map of Atlantis. At this company, however, the machine is so heavily polluted by a desert storm that it is impossible to return to the future. Time travelers had to make an emergency landing in the younger stone age . There they meet the tribal princess Rhu, who comes from Atlantis, which sank only three years earlier.

Dr. Graf decides to return to the present in order to prepare a great expedition through which Atlantis will be rediscovered for humanity. The on-board computer AL-2 reports an impending earthquake beforehand . The time travelers warn Rhu and her tribe before they return to the present.

During his research into the lost Atlantis, Dr. Graf came across the mysterious figure of the alchemist Kellys, who, it turned out, appeared under different names over several centuries. For example, he appeared as the Count of Saint Germain . Dr. Graf picked up his trail because he hoped to get information about Atlantis. He was convinced that Kelley was in possession of the elixir of life, which was a holdover from the sunken Atlantean civilization.

The time machine

The name for the machines from the year 3000 is AL . The series distinguishes between type AL-1 and AL-2 time machines and time machines for the transport of heavy loads. Rhon travels through time with an AL-2 machine, the most modern variant. AL is also the name for the talking on-board computer that has control over all functions of the machine. Behind the seats of the machine there is a kind of control center , which is part of the on-board computer and which z. B. feeds with geographic information data. The most important supply element of the machine is a spiral through which mercury flows. The time machine also features a large screen on which local events can be displayed or educational films about epochs and personalities are shown.

With the help of an "assimilator", the time traveler is able to speak the language of the relevant time or country and automatically wear inconspicuous, contemporary clothing. This assimilator is part of the time traveler's “mutant spacesuit”. The “determinator” in turn makes it possible to make the aircraft invisible after landing at the push of a button. The time machine also becomes invisible as soon as the entrance hatch closes. The time machine can move through time as well as space and looks like a UFO . After Rhon's spectacular emergency landing in 1982 and the landing of his pursuers, the Berlin press reports of a UFO sighting.

Remarkable

In the series, the characters of Dr. Graf and the alchemist Kelley played by the same actor, Benno Sterzenbach . The Czechoslovak actors had to be subsequently dubbed for German-language television. During the production, German and Czech were spoken alternately. Frank Schaff lent the actor Tomáš Holý his voice. Very little of Johanna von Koczian's novels can be found in the television series, e.g. B. there is no alchemist Kelley in the book. In addition, Judy Mark's older sister is in the template, he has no younger sister. As a screenwriter, Ota Hofman had changed history significantly.
