FireFTP is a free, cross-platform FTP client that can be integrated as an extension into the Mozilla Firefox web browser . The program supports the File Transfer Protocol and FTP over SSL as well as SFTP and FXP . FireFTP is Careware and runs on any platform on which Mozilla Firefox can be used.
Parts of the code have been transferred to the KompoZer HTML editor . A corresponding add-on is freely available for its successor BlueGriffon .
history
The first version was released as 0.82alpha on September 20, 2004. Version 1.0 appeared on July 12, 2008. With version 1.99.1, compatibility with Firefox 4 was established. After 13 years support for FireFTP has been removed from Firefox. The development of the addon was therefore stopped.
features
FireFTP supports Transport Layer Security , Internet Protocol Version 6, and the use of proxies . Functions for rights management are also available. File manipulation is simplified by drag and drop . FireFTP is available in over 20 languages. It runs in a tab and has a two-column layout for easy navigation. It also shows a detailed FTP log and has a search function both locally and for the server.
FireFTP has been downloaded over 25.9 million times from the official Mozilla website (as of January 30, 2017).
Due to a technical limitation of Firefox, a maximum of 4 GB files can be transferred.
