history

Also XULRunner , the runtime environment for Gecko, is used. BlueGriffon runs on Windows , macOS and Ubuntu 16.04. From version 2.0, only Windows 7 and higher and OS X from version 10.8 (Mountain Lion) are supported.

From version 3.1 only 64-bit operating systems are supported.

properties

BlueGriffon creates websites that are compatible with the W3C web standards. You can create or edit pages compatible with HTML4 , XHTML 1.1, HTML5 . CSS 2.1 is supported and CSS 3 is already fully integrated by Gecko. BlueGriffon includes SVG-edit , an editor for SVG based on XUL and originally written as an extension for Firefox.

From version 1.4.1 BlueGriffon can also handle other character sets than UTF-8 without any problems.

Add-ons

Sometimes the free version lacks additional functions such as B. an extended CSS editor (a simple CSS editing is integrated), which BlueGriffon implements through extensions. A click in the menu opens the transfer page with the payment instructions for the extensions. The basic version as well as some selected extensions are free of charge, the project finances itself. a. by selling the chargeable extensions.

Portable versions

The program can also be operated portable under Windows by starting the main program with the command line command "-profile data". This will save all settings in a folder called "data".
