The Squids from the Second Floor is a Czechoslovak children's series from 1986 .

The series was created in 1986 as a co-production of Czechoslovak television with WDR , Swiss , Austrian , French and Portuguese television. The focus is on two clay figures in the shape of a green and a blue octopus that can move and speak. This takes up an idea from the series Luzie, the horror of the street .

action

The Holan family from Prague goes on vacation to Portugal , to a beach on Cabo da Roca . The beach is contaminated after a tanker accident. Off the coast, two marine researchers discover life forms unknown to them in a research submarine . The marine researchers manage to capture the life forms, but they can escape from the research ship into the water and are washed up on the beach. The children Eva and Hansi find a strange crowd in the colors blue and green. Since the mass is reminiscent of modeling clay , they form a blue and a green squid. However, the crowd has a life of its own and the two squids begin to speak and move around. The squid can also read with their tentacles, but the letters disappear when you touch them. The family has to break off their vacation because they illegally parked on the closed beach and insulted the police as idiots. As a result, their vacation pay was gone and they had to travel home.

In Prague , the squids Eva and Hansi help to fix the marriage of their parents Andrea and Jan. With their ability to produce electricity, they cause other mysterious events such as pianos flying into the Vltava . Some neighbors believe in the Golem's return . The research team is trying to find the squid again, as more than one city could be supplied with electricity with the entire mass.

During a magic trick performance by the children with the squids as props, the squids in the audience discover the oceanographer from the research submarine.

After Christmas, the father receives a shipping order to deliver goods to the sea. The children seized the opportunity to lead the octopuses back into the sea. The marine explorer follows the family unnoticed. When the octopuses discover the marine explorer at the port, they start the truck's engine and flee with the help of Hansi, who drives the truck. On the run, the truck drifts off the road because the squids do not want to drive into a flock of birds. The children remain unharmed. Eva prevents the engine from catching fire with an extinguishing agent, which, however, comes into contact with the squids and they slowly lose their shape. The children transform the squid into birds just before the parents and the oceanographer arrive. The oceanographer sees the extinguishing agent and the crying children and suspects that the squids have dissolved and drives away. At the end of the film, the octopuses fly towards the sea at sunset.
