In 1960 Dittmeyer set up his own business with the idea of producing fruit juices filled directly into bottles in the harvest country . His wife Hannelore invented the brand name “ Valensina ” in 1967. From 1972 to 1984 he was the exclusive supplier of his fruit juices to the Olympic Games . The " Punica " brand was created in 1975. After a sudden hearing loss in 1984, Dittmeyer sold his group of companies to the US consumer goods manufacturer Procter & Gamble . From 1988 to 1992 Dittmeyer appeared personally in television commercials in which he advertised Valensina with the phrase "Either freshly squeezed or Valensina" . He was talked about in the media as "Uncle Dittmeyer". The music group The School Children Accumulated caused a scandal in 1991 with "Kill-Onkel-Dittmeyer" T-shirts and corresponding lines of songs. A lawsuit against the distribution of the T-shirts was unsuccessful.

In 1998 Dittmeyer bought back the Valensina brand and set up its own production facility in Bremen with Dittmeyer KG and around 50 employees. In July 2001 he had to file for bankruptcy. Since then, Valensina has been part of sportfit Fruchtsaft GmbH & Co. KG in Rheinberg .
