Bonaventure Schwanthaler
Bonaventura Schwanthaler (* July 14, 1678 in Ried im Innkreis , today Austria , then Bavaria ; † May 17, 1744 , Enzenkirchen , Austria, then also Bavaria) was, in keeping with family tradition, a sculptor - but also a Bavarian freedom fighter and leader of the Bavarian popular uprising 1705 .
Life
Bonaventura Schwanthaler was born as the son of Thomas Schwanthaler and Maria Katharina Zetler. In addition to the two siblings Johann Josef and Johann Franz, he also had two half-siblings, namely another Johann Franz and Basilius .
According to Christian Probst , he was the leader of the farm boys at the Ried court . The 200 lads led by Schwanthaler ordered the rest of the peasantry to come to Tumeltsham and Aurolzmünster and threatened those who opposed this with the death penalty and their farms burned down.
Schwanthaler was apparently married twice: In the sources there is first a Josefa, later an Eva, who died on November 8, 1749 in Enzenkirchen .
