Werther Lohse (born May 17, 1950 ) is a German rock musician who was best known for the group Lift .

Life

In 1970 he began studying mechanical engineering , which he broke off in favor of studying at the "Carl Maria von Weber" University of Music in Dresden . From 1972 to 1976 he studied drums, piano and singing there. He played in the amateur band Vitamin C and switched to the Dresden band Lift, founded in 1973, in mid-1974. There he was a drummer and - alongside lead singer Henry Pacholski - singer.

In the spring of 1978 Lohse fell ill, so that he had to leave the band. Shortly afterwards he switched to the star combo Meißen for about a year , where he worked as a drummer and - alongside Reinhard Fißler - as a singer. Among other things, he sang a solo part in the 40-minute work Weißes Gold . In January 1979 he returned to Lift to take the place of the fatally injured Henry Pacholski. The song produced afterwards and sung by Lohse, Am Abend some days , took first place in the GDR annual hit parade in 1980. In 1984 the band broke up because of disagreements about the style. Lohse formed a new band, which initially received a lot of negative reviews. Further changes followed. The band exists with a break from 1991 to 1993 until today.

Lohse took part with Lift in 2007 and 2009 in the concerts of the Ostrock in Klassik -Tournee, which began in 2007 . Together with the bands Stern-Combo Meißen and electra he gave concerts with Lift as a “Saxon three”.

He lives in Berlin-Rahnsdorf .
