Matthias wisdom

Matthias Weisheit (born December 18, 1945 in Leipzig ; † May 17, 2004 in Tettnang ) was a German secondary school teacher and politician ( SPD ). From 1992 until his death he was a member of the German Bundestag .

Career

After graduating from high school in 1966, Weisheit studied at the Weingarten University of Education from 1968 and passed the second service examination to become a secondary school teacher in 1972. From 1972 to 1992 he worked as a teacher at secondary schools in Leutkirch and Kißlegg and at the Bodnegg Education Center .

politics

Wisdom first joined the Young Socialists in 1968 and the SPD in 1970. In the party he exercised several functions at local and district level, such as from 1978 to 1991 as district chairman in Ravensburg and later as district chairman in Biberach an der Riss .

After wisdom in the federal election in 1990 the direct entry into the Parliament had missed, he acquired on 29 June 1992, the membership of the German Bundestag as substitutes for the retired deputies Harald B. Shepherd , who to Environment Minister of the State of Baden-Wuerttemberg was appointed. In the following federal elections in 1994 , 1998 and 2002 , Weisheit was elected via the state list of the SPD Baden-Württemberg . He was the agricultural policy spokesman for the SPD parliamentary group and most recently chairman in the committee for consumer protection, food and agriculture. On May 17, 2004, he suddenly died of a heart attack . Elvira Drobinski-Weiß moved up for him in the Bundestag.

Private

Matthias Weisheit lived in the community of Grünkraut in the Ravensburg district . He was married to Marlene Weisheit and had a daughter and a son who died in 1999. He volunteered in several clubs and associations and was the bearer of the badge of honor of the state of Baden-Württemberg .
