Orders and decorations of the state of Baden-Württemberg

The medals and decorations of the state of Baden-Württemberg are state, visible awards that are given by the Prime Minister or the Baden-Württemberg government to people who have rendered outstanding services to the state of Baden-Württemberg or to certain areas of public life.

Awards

Order of Merit

The Order of Merit of the State of Baden-Württemberg (often also referred to as the State Order ) is the highest award in the State of Baden-Württemberg. It was created in 1974 and is awarded for achievements that serve the common good, particularly in the political, social, cultural and economic fields. Around 30 people are honored with the Order of Merit each year. The number of medal holders is limited to 1000 living people.

Staufer Medal

The Staufer Medal is designed as a special personal award from the Prime Minister for services to the state of Baden-Württemberg. Around 50 people are honored annually with the Staufer Medal.

Badge of honor

The badge of honor of the state of Baden-Württemberg is awarded to citizens of the state who have made a special contribution to the community through at least 15 years of voluntary work in clubs and organizations with cultural, sporting or social goals or in a comparable way. The badge of honor is awarded to around 400 people annually.

Rescue medal

The rescue medal is awarded to people who have rescued people from danger to life under particularly difficult circumstances or at risk for their own life.

Home medal

Since 1978, citizens of Baden-Württemberg have been honored with the home medal of the state of Baden-Württemberg who have made a special contribution to maintaining the home and customs of Baden-Württemberg.

Business medal

The Business Medal of the State of Baden-Württemberg is awarded to personalities, companies and other institutions for special professional or entrepreneurial achievements that serve the Baden-Württemberg economy.

Fire Department Badge of Honor

The fire brigade badge of honor is awarded in four stages (bronze, silver, gold and gold in a special design) to members of the volunteer fire brigade who have served at least 15, 25, 40 and 50 years of dutiful active service in a fire department. In addition, there is a fifth level, the special level of the fire brigade badge of honor , with which members of the fire brigade and other people can be awarded for special services to fire extinguishing in Baden-Württemberg or for particularly courageous and determined behavior in fire service operations.

State medal for agriculture and forestry

The State Medal for Agriculture and Forestry is awarded to people who have made a special contribution to agriculture and forestry in Baden-Württemberg. The award ceremony takes place during the main agricultural festival in Stuttgart. When the main agricultural festival was organized for the first time in 1818, the then King Wilhelm I awarded prizes, in whose tradition the state medal for agriculture and forestry stands.

Civil Protection Decoration

The Civil Protection Honor Badge was on 15 March 2016, Interior Minister Thomas Strobl donated, making it the youngest national award in Baden-Wuerttemberg. The decorations may be awarded to persons who in a special way to the Civil Protection have rendered outstanding services in Baden-Württemberg or particularly courageous or resolute behavior have shown in use. Members of the aid organizations , the fire brigades, the technical relief organization , but also outside persons are eligible for an award .
