Agnes of Bohemia (born as Anežka Přemyslovna ; * September 5 or September 9, 1269 in Prague ; † May 17, 1296 ibid) was a Bohemian princess from the house of the Přemyslids and the third child of the Bohemian king Ottokar II Přemysl and his second wife Kunigunde von Halitsch .

biography

Her father died on August 26, 1278 in the battle of Marchfeld against the Roman-German King Rudolf I of Habsburg . Ottokar was probably killed on the battlefield by an act of revenge by a Carinthian knight. To finally settle the conflict, Kunigunde decided to marry her children with the children of Rudolf. Agnes was betrothed to Rudolf II in spring 1279 , her brother Wenzel to Guta von Habsburg .

Through her marriage to Rudolf II in Prague in March 1289, Agnes became Duchess of Austria and Styria , as well as of Swabia , Alsace and Aargau .

From the marriage comes Johann Parricida (1290-1313), who was born shortly before or after his father's death.
