Celine Marier

Celine Marier (also Célina , Célinie or Célanie ; born May 17, 1871 in Montreal ; † May 4, 1940 ibid) was a Canadian singer (soprano) and vocal teacher.

Marier studied singing with Charles Labelle and performed from 1894 in Montreal and other cities in Canada. From 1896 she continued her training in Liège with Joseph Duysenx and Sylvain Dupuis , later in Paris with Romain Bussine . After returning to Canada, she performed in concerts (including with the Montreal Symphony Orchestra alongside Pol Plançon (1900)). In 1902 she sang the title role in Jules Massenet's oratorio La Vierge .

From 1905 she taught at the Conservatoire National , later she gave private lessons. With her best students, including Louis Bourdon , Cédia Brault , Lionel Daunais , Roger Doucet , Lottie Farrar , Sarah Fischer , Jacques Labrecque , Caro Lamoureux , Simone Quesnel and Alice Raymond , she performed several operas, including Carmen and Mignon .
