Jordan Nathaniel Marcel Knight (born May 17, 1970 in Worcester , Massachusetts ) is an American singer . He is a member of the boy band New Kids on the Block .

Life

Knight was born the youngest of six children. The son of Canadian parents, Rev. Allan Knight and social worker Marlene Putman, grew up in Dorchester , a neighborhood of Boston with high crime and drug trafficking . Since the mother regularly took foster children into the family, up to 20 people lived in the house at times. At the age of 18, Knight, who had both Canadian and US citizenship, opted for the latter.

Knight, whose parents divorced during his youth , first attended Roxbury School in Boston and later moved to Thayer Academy , a private high school . As a child he sang in the school and church choir . He also mastered breakdancing . Together with his brother Jonathan Knight , he was accepted at Princeton University , where the Royal School of Church Music offered special training for boys with musical talent.

In 1984, at the age of 14, Knight became the second youngest member of the boy band New Kids on the Block, with whom he enjoyed worldwide success in the late 1980s and early 1990s. The band split in 1994 and reunited in 2008.

In 1999 Knight released his first solo album , which received the US gold record . The album includes the top ten hit Give It to You , which went platinum . Health problems followed. Knight processed the most successful hits of his former band on the album Jordan Knight Performs New Kids on the Block - The Remix Album in 2005 . In 2005 he released the EP The Fix . The following year the album Love Songs was created

Knight is married and has two sons.
