Marcel Moyse

Marcel Moyse (born May 17, 1889 in Saint-Amour , France , † November 1, 1984 in Brattleboro , Vermont , USA ) was a French flautist .

Marcel Moyse studied at the Paris Conservatory with Philippe Gaubert , Adolphe Hennebains and Paul Taffanel . He was a co-founder of the Marlboro School of Music and the festival of the same name. His students included William Bennett , Trevor Wye (who later published a biography of his teacher), Robert Aitken , Aurèle Nicolet , Raymond Guiot , Sir James Galway and Peter-Lukas Graf .

Moyse often performed with his son Louis .

Every year Moyse came to his birthplace with several students, where he lived in the Hotel du Commerce and gave flute lessons there.
