Valentina Alexejewna Winogradowa , b. Kamenjok ( Russian Валентина Алексеевна Виноградова , born Каменёк ; English transcription: Valentina Alekseyevna Kamenyok-Vinogradova * 17th May 1943 in Moscow ; † 17th July 2002 in Saint Petersburg ) was a Soviet - Russian volleyball player . With the Soviet selection she became European and Olympic champion.
Athletic career
Valentina Vinogradova won her first international title at the 1963 European Championships in Constanța . The following year, the Olympic premiere for volleyball took place at the 1964 Olympic Games . In the last and decisive game of the tournament, the Japanese won over the Soviet players, who received the silver medal. At the World Cup in 1967 took over the Soviet team, like all other Eastern Bloc teams not participate after no agreement on the names of the eligible to participate teams from the host Japanese North Korea and from the GDR came.
In the next few years Vinogradova won gold medals with the Soviet team at the European Championships in Turkey in 1967 and the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico City .
