Marc Fosset

Marc Fosset (born May 17, 1949 in Paris ) is a French jazz guitarist .

The left-handed Fosset is self-taught. He decided to become a guitarist after hearing Didi Duprat , the companion of Yves Montand . In Puces he also heard gypsy guitarists who brought him closer to the style of Django Reinhardt . He began as a companion for numerous jazz and blues musicians (together with the saxophonist Michel de Villers ) in the “Trois Mailletz” club in Paris , a. a. Michel Roques , Sonny Criss , Bill Coleman , Memphis Slim , Ted Curson and Robert Guérin . Then he belonged to the band Magma and to groups of René Urtreger and Claude Guilhot . In 1976 he founded a trio with Patrice Galas and Franco Manzecchi , from whose collaboration in 1978 the record Organ on "Open Records" resulted. He became known through his duo with Patrice Caratini , founded in 1977 , with whom he also u. a. Martial Solal , Maurice Vander , Marcel Azzola and the percussionist Michel Delaporte accompanied or played in a trio. He also went on a worldwide tour with Stéphane Grappelli (album Looking at You , JMS 2000) in the 1980s and 1990s and then played with Jacques Bolognesi in the Trio Hermetotico (album of the same name in 2007) and with Florence Fourcade and Florin Niculescu .
