Mauro Martini

Mauro Martini (born May 17, 1964 in Alfonsine ) is a former Italian racing driver .

Career

Mauro Martini began his career in 1985 in the Italian Formula 3 championship and celebrated his first race win in this racing series in 1987 on a Dallara 387 . He was also involved in this racing series in 1988, but in the same year he also contested all races in the European Formula 3 Cup . Martini finished second overall in both championships at the end of the year. In 1989 he entered the Japanese Formula 3000 championship, in which he remained active until 1996. In 1990 he was third overall.

In 1991 he made his debut at the 24 Hours of Le Mans . He achieved his best placement on the Sarthe in 1994 when he finished second overall, which he achieved together with Eddie Irvine and Jeff Krosnoff in a Toyota 94C-V .

After a race in Formula Nippon and three outings in the FIA GT Championship on a Lotus Elise GT1 , he retired from racing at the end of 1997.
