Elbe bathing day
The Elbebadetag is an event that was first carried out in 2002 by the “ Lebendige Elbe ” initiative . Over 90,000 people bathed in the Elbe that day or took part in other activities and festivities as part of the Elbe Bathing Day .
The Elbe Bathing Day was seen as an opportunity to strengthen the public perception of the Elbe as a clean river . The thought and the idea of the first day of swimming in the Elbe has spread to Europe and on July 17, 2005, the first European day of swimming in the river " Big Jump " took place at the same time as the day of swimming in the Elbe .
