Georgiy Zhzhonov ( Russian Георгий Степанович Жжёнов ., Scientific transliteration Georgy Stepanovič Žžënov ; born March 9 . Jul / 22. March  1915 greg. In Petrograd , † 8. December 2005 in Moscow ) was a Soviet and Russian actor .

life and career

Georgi Schschonow began his film career in 1931 in the Makarenko film The Way to Life ( Путёвка в жизнь ). His career was interrupted twice for political reasons. The first time he was sent to the Kolyma Gulag for five years on false accusations that he was a US spy . He got to know fellow inmate Sergej Pavlovich Tschaplin and they both became happy. In 1949 he was exiled to Siberia again for six years . He was able to continue his career since the mid-1950s and played in well over 50 film roles by the end of the 1980s, many of which were also shown in Germany - especially in the GDR.

During the Gorbachev era, Schschonow wrote his autobiography Ot »Glucharja« do »Žar-pticy« ( From » Capercaillie « to »Firebird« ), which was published in Moscow in 1989. In 2002 he published a complete collection of his stories under the title Prožitoe ( Experienced ).
