Nordic Council Film Award
The Nordic Council Film Prize is awarded annually by the Nordic Council, a forum for the Nordic countries .
On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Nordic Council, the film prize was awarded for the first time in 2002 in order to strengthen the film market in the Nordic countries. Since 2005, the award has been presented annually together with the music , literature, and nature and environment awards at the Nordic Council meeting in autumn and is worth 350,000 Danish kroner (approx. 47,000 euros) as much as the other awards. The prize money is shared between the screenwriter, director and producer. A feature film will be selected from the nominations of the five Nordic countries that “is anchored in Nordic culture, has a high artistic value, is characterized by artistic originality and represents a completed work.” If possible, only films that are in one of the languages of the Nordic countries.
jury
The winner of the film award is selected by an independent jury, which consists of a critic and a deputy from one of the Nordic film institutes and has no private economic interests in the nominated films. The jury is appointed by the Nordic Council of Ministers based on proposals from the culture ministers from Denmark , Finland , Iceland , Norway and Sweden .
The national jury members form a Nordic jury and propose films from their own countries for nomination. The nominated films will be released in early September. If a film from one of the autonomous territories of Åland , Faroe Islands or Greenland is to be judged, a temporary member from the relevant area will also be appointed to the jury.
