Nick and his little brother grow up in difficult circumstances. Her mother is a single parent and an alcoholic. The two take care of their little brother, who is only a few months old. They hide the alcohol from the mother. When she leaves the house, the two boys get drunk. The next morning, Nick finds the baby dead in his bed. The guilt for the death of the child should never leave Nick in his life.
Years later. Nick is free after a long prison term. He lives in a simple room and has a loose relationship with his neighbor Sofie. The mother has since passed away and Nick tries to contact the younger brother by phone. The brother even answers the first time he calls. However, Nick is unable to identify himself. Angry at himself, he hits the public telephone with his bare fist. He breaks his hand in the process and treats the injury poorly. The silent, tough man nonetheless trains tirelessly in the fitness center and meets the dejected Ivan on the street. The corpulent Ivan is the brother of Nick's ex-girlfriend and just as lonely as he is. Ivan longs for tenderness, but does not manage to come into contact with a woman at all. One evening he has sex with Sofie for the first time. When Nick returns home, he finds Sofie strangled on her bed.
Three weeks beforehand. Nick's brother takes care of his little son Martin. His wife was killed in a car accident a few years ago. She was just as addicted to heroin as he was. He invests the money in heroin in order to earn his money as a dealer in the future. He is finally arrested by the police on the street.
Nick is accused of the murder of Sophie, sitting in custody , where he met his brother again, who is in custody takes life. The wound on his hand is badly infected.
