Jens Lien (2006)

Jens Lien (born September 14, 1967 in Oslo ) is a Norwegian film director whose films have received awards and nominations at numerous festivals and film awards. His film Anderland  (2006) in particular attracted international attention .

Life

Lien graduated from the London International Film School in 1993 . His thesis was the short film Montana , which was shown at the short film festival in Grimstad that same year . In 1995 he took part in the festival again with his film Mitt elektriske kjøkken . He later worked on the short films Døren som ikke smakk  (2000) and Naturlige Briller  (2001). Both films were based on scripts by Per Schreiner and were shown at the Cannes International Film Festival .

In 2003 Lien released his feature film debut with Jonny Vang , which was shown in the “Panorama Special” section of the Berlinale . In addition, the film received a nomination for "Best Film" by the Amanda and Aksel Hennie the award for "Best Actor". Lien's subsequent film project Anderland ( Den brysomme mannen , 2006) was again a collaboration with Per Schreiner and was based on a radio play that was recorded for the radio two years earlier. The film received Amanda Awards in the categories of " Best Director ", "Best Screenplay" and "Best Actor" (Trond Fausa Aurvåg) and nominations for "Best Picture" and for "Best Actress" (Petronella Barker). Anderland won more than 20 international awards, including the ACID Award in Cannes. In 2011 Liens Film Sons of Norway premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival .

Lien's latest project is the TV miniseries Viva Hate , which is currently in post-production . The story is set in the early 1990s in Gothenburg's then strong music scene. Peter Birro wrote the script .

In addition to his work as a film director, Lien also realized some commercials and received a. a. the Gullfisken award for the SAS Pappajenta commercial .
