David Kossoff

David Kossoff , FRSA (born November 24, 1919 in London , † March 23, 2005 in Hatfield , Hertfordshire ) was an English actor and author .

Kossoff was the son of Russian immigrants. In the years after World War II , he began showing entertainment on British television . In the 1950s and 1960s he played popular roles in many well-known television programs, including the lead role of family man Alf Larkins in The Larkins first broadcast in 1958 . He also starred in 1955 Carol Reeds Voller Wunder ist das Leben ( A Kid for Two Farthings ) and The Bespoke Overcoat . One of his most famous images is that of malign professor Kokintz alongside Peter Sellers in The Mouse That Roared ( The Mouse did Roared , 1959) and its sequel The Mouse on the Moon ( The Mouse on the Moon , 1963).

After the death of his son Paul , the guitarist of the rock band Free , on March 19, 1976, Kossoff began the fight against substance abuse . He founded the Paul Kossoff Foundation , for which he worked until his death.

David Kossoff died of liver cancer on March 23, 2005 . He was in the Golders Green Crematorium in London cremated , where his ashes is located.
