Keith Andes

Keith Andes (real name John Charles Andes ; born July 12, 1920 in Ocean City , New Jersey , † November 11, 2005 in Santa Clarita , California ) was an American actor .

life and career

Andes began his career in show business at the age of twelve on the radio. He was active as a singer and speaker through high school . During the Second World War he served in the United States Air Force and appeared on Broadway in 1943 on the show " Winged Victory ". Here he was seen by Darryl F. Zanuck and got a small role in the film version of the show the following year. After the war, Andes went to Hollywood . He got a first major role in 1947 in the film The farmer's daughter ( The Farmer's Daughter ) and brother of Loretta Young , Lex Barker and James Arness . In the 1950s and 1960s he was the leading actor in various B-films . Here he was in great demand because of his good looks as a guy similar to George Nader , Guy Madison and Jeffrey Hunter .

Andes won the 1947 Theater World Award for his role in The Chocolate Soldier . He often appeared on stage in musicals, but he only had speaking roles in films. In addition to working for theater and film, he also appeared in various television productions. The last years of his life were marked by serious illness (including bladder cancer ). 2005 Andes committed at the age of 85 years suicide .
