Mike Mills (Director)
Michael "Mike" Mills (born March 20, 1966 in Berkeley , California ) is an American music video and film director and graphic designer .
Life
Mill has made music videos for artists like Moby , Yoko Ono, and Air . He has also worked as a graphic designer on promotional material and album covers for the Beastie Boys , Beck , Sonic Youth and Ol 'Dirty Bastard , among others . He has also designed graphics for X-Girl and Marc Jacobs. He is currently producing his own series of posters and fabrics called Humans by Mike Mills .
In 2005 Mills made his first feature film Thumbsucker . More films followed. His screenplay for the feature film Century Women (2016) earned him an Oscar nomination in the category Best Original Screenplay in 2017 . In the same year he was accepted into the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), which awards the Oscars every year.
Mike Mills is married to the American artist and filmmaker Miranda July .
Air named the fifth track on their Talkie Walkie album after him.
