The 55th presentation of the German Film Prize took place on July 8, 2005 in the Berlin Philharmonic . The gala was moderated by Michael "Bully" Herbig . For the first time, the nominees and winners were no longer determined by a jury, but rather chosen by the members of the German Film Academy .
