Aribert Hantke , called Ari Hantke , (born May 17, 1943 in Hirschberg , Lower Silesia ) is a German architect , film architect and set designer .

Ari Hantke studied architecture and art at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) and earned the academic degree of graduate engineer . He then worked for six years in the office of the German architect Alexander von Branca , for whom he a. a. realized the central area of ​​the University of Würzburg .

In 1976 he began working as a production designer for film and television . As a film architect and production designer, Ari Hantke specialized in historical material. Hantke acquired special skills in the manufacture of technical and artistic special buildings. In the course of his 30 years in the film industry, he designed the decorations for national and international film productions by Franz Xaver Bogner , Dieter Wedel , Carl Schenkel , Bernd Fischerauer , Édouard Molinaro , Michael Herbig , Constantin Costa-Gavras , Claude Zidi , Jean-Jacques Brilleix and Volker Schlöndorff . For his work on Schlöndorff's concentration camp and resistance drama The Ninth Day (2004), Hantke was awarded the German Film Prize in 2005 in the “Best Set Design” category. From 2005 he largely withdrew from film work.

In addition to his work for various media, Aribert Hantke continued to work in his own architecture office in Munich. From 1970 (according to other sources: 1973) to 2004 Ari Hantke was a member of the Bavarian Chamber of Architects. Since 1976 he has been a member of the French Chamber of Architects (Ordre des Architectes).

Hantke has lived in France since 2004 and lives in Port-Vendres , near the Spanish border. In France he works mainly as an architect for international clients. He realized new buildings, redesigns and renovations. In 2017 he completed the restoration and interior design of a private villa by the Danish architect Viggo Dorph-Petersen , who built a number of well-known Belle Epoque buildings in the Pyrénées-Orientales region at the turn of the century , including the Château de Valmy .

In his spare time, Hantke works as a painter and photographer . His works (paintings and photographs) were exhibited in Port-Vendres at the Center d'Arts “Le Dôme” from July 21st to August 2nd, 2010. Another exhibition took place in June 2012 at the Center d'Arts “Le Dôme”. In July 2016 there was another exhibition at the Marianne Gallery in Argelès .

Hantke is married to the author and translator Susanne Reinker .
