Michael Billington

Michael Billington (born December 24, 1941 in Blackburn , England , † June 3, 2005 in Margate , Kent , England) was a British actor.

Billington has appeared in numerous feature films and television films, for example in number 6 ( The Prisoner ) by Patrick McGoohan , Die Profis ( The Professionals ), Hart but cordially ( Hart to Hart ) or Magnum ( Magnum, PI ). His best known role was that of Colonel Paul Foster in the science fiction series UFO . Between 1971 and 1974 he played the character of Daniel Fogarty in the historical drama The Onedin Line .

In the early 1970s, Billington was considered a hot candidate for the role of James Bond as the successor to George Lazenby ( On Her Majesty's Secret Service ). Finally, in 1977, he played a minor supporting role in The Spy Who Loved Me as Sergei Borsov , the lover of the spy Major Anya Amasova . When Roger Moore briefly considered not playing the role of James Bond again before James Bond 007 - On a Deadly Mission , Billington was again considered a candidate for the role.

He lost his battle with cancer days before the death of his UFO co-star, Ed Bishop .
