The Polish Film Festival Gdynia (Polish Festiwal Filmowy w Gdyni, FFG) gives an overview of the filmmaking of Polish cinema year after year. The first film festival was organized in 1974 and took place in Gdansk until 1986 . Since 1986 the music theater in Gdynia has been the seat of the festival, which takes place every September. The best Polish films made since the end of the previous festival will be shown at the festival. This has created an important marketplace for Polish films, which is also intended to boost international film sales. Numerous guests of the international film festivals select the films for the competitions of the following year here. The organizers of the Berlinale are regular guests of the festival. A jury will award various prizes at the end of the festival. The main prize is the Golden Lion. The artistic director of the festival has been Mirosław Bork since 2006 .
