Jan Jakub Kolski (born January 29, 1956 in Breslau ) is the author of numerous short films , documentaries , feature films and theater productions .

His professional film career began in 1976-81, when he completed a career from assistant cameraman to program director for the Polish regional broadcaster TVP Wrocław . He subsequently studied between 1981 and 1985 at the Film and Theater School in Łódź .

As a director and screenwriter, he has produced over 20 short films and ten feature films. His productions deal with topics such as mountains, nature, religion, sociology and ecology.

Awards

Jan Jakub Kolski won five awards at the Polish Film Festival Gdynia between 1993 and 2003 . In 1998 he won the festival's main prize with his film Historia kina w Popielawach and the Polish Film Prize a year later . With Jańcio Wodnik , he won the main prize and the foundlings prize at the Cottbus Film Festival , which focuses on Eastern European cinema.
