Andrzej Jakimowski
Andrzej Jakimowski (born August 17, 1963 in Warsaw ) is a Polish film director and screenwriter .
life and work
Jakimowski studied philosophy at the University of Warsaw and graduated from the Faculty of Radio and Television Krzysztof Kieślowski of the Silesian University in Katowice . At the beginning of his career he made short films and documentaries. In 1991 he made his first short film Pogłos ( Eng . Echo). The documentary Miasto cieni , created in 1994, received the main prize of the International Festival of Ethnic Documentary Films and TV Programs “At Home” in Kraków in 1998 . Other documentaries followed, such as Dzyń, dzyń (1997) and Wilcza 32 (1998).
Jakimowski himself produced his first feature film, Zmruż oczy (Eng. Wink ), from 2002. His breakthrough as a director and best film of 2004 was awarded the Polish Film Prize. Main actor Zbigniew Zamachowski received the Polish Film Award in the category of Best Leading Actor for the role of "Jasiek" . In Solidarność, Solidarność… , a collage of 13 short films by 13 directors on the occasion of the 25th birthday of the Polish trade union Solidarność , Jakimowski contributed the nine-minute short film Torba .
His film Kleine Tricks (orig. Sztuczki ), which was released in German cinemas on July 23, 2009, was Poland's official contribution to the 2009 Academy Awards , but was not shortlisted. The story of a boy from the provinces who is convinced that he recognizes his father in a train traveler and is now trying to persuade him to return home with various "little tricks" won the Golden at the Polish Film Festival Gdynia in 2007 Lions. In the same year he was awarded the Golden Prometheus at the Tbilisi International Film Festival . As for Zmruż oczy , Jakimowski wrote the script for Little Tricks himself.
