Kevin Hagen
Kevin Hagen (born April 3, 1928 in Chicago , Illinois , † July 9, 2005 in Grants Pass , Oregon ) was an American actor .
Life
Hagen was born as a professional dancer child and raised by his mother, grandmother and a few aunts. He served as a soldier in World War II and worked for a while in the US embassy in Germany before deciding to become an actor at the age of 27.
In a theater production of Eugene O'Neill's greed under elms he was discovered as an actor for film and television and received his first guest role in the series Dragnet . He then began working regularly for television and film; He had his big breakthrough in 1965 with the western The Man from the Great River ( Shenandoah ), in which he played a soldier who kills the son of the main character ( James Stewart ).
He achieved particular popularity alongside Michael Landon in the long-lived television series Our Little Farm ( Little House on the Prairie ) based on the children's books by Laura Ingalls Wilder . For ten years he played the warm-hearted Doc Hiram Baker in the series and in three later TV specials . In addition, he played guest roles in numerous television series such as Smoking Colts , Solo for ONKEL , Bonanza , M * A * S * H , Quincy and Perry Mason .
Kevin Hagen was married to Susanne Cramer in the 1960s until her death in 1969. In 2004 he contracted esophageal cancer , which he succumbed to a year later. He left behind his widow Jan Hagen, with whom he was married for the fourth time, and his son Kristopher.
