Life

job

Susanne Cramer first played two smaller roles in German post-war films, until she got leading roles in the mistaken comedy Die stolen Hose with Heinz Erhardt and in the literary adaptation Little Tent and Big Love with Claus Biederstaedt . In 1957 and 1958 she played in ten film productions alone, for example with Lilli Palmer and Ivan Desny in the melodrama Wie ein Sturmwind by director Falk Harnack . After moving to Hollywood, she appeared in TV series there, including Bonanza , Solo for ONCEL , Perry Mason and A Cage Full of Heroes . But she also acted in supporting roles in feature films alongside Marlon Brando and James Stewart .

Private

At the age of 20, Cramer married the 37-year-old actor Hermann Nehlsen , who pushed her film ambitions forward. The marriage soon failed, and the actress had a relationship with Claus Biederstaedt , which ended in two suicide attempts.

In 1958 she married fellow actor Helmuth Lohner . The divorce took place after five months; however, they married a second time afterwards. Their daughter Konstanze Lohner, who works as a teacher in Germany today, comes from this connection. The second marriage to Lohner also ended in a divorce after a short time, as he entered into a relationship with Karin Baal .

Eventually Cramer married the American actor Kevin Hagen , known as Dr. Baker from the family series Our Little Farm , with whom she lived until her death.

When she wanted to visit her colleague and friend Renate Ewert in Munich at the end of 1966 , she found them - already dead for several days - lying in the apartment. She was very preoccupied with this experience.

Susanne Cramer died a good two years later at the age of only 32 in a private clinic - officially because of pneumonia. There are numerous rumors about her death, ranging from suicide to medical malpractice. Her grave is in the Forest Lawn Memorial Park ( Hollywood Hills ).
