The Ambulance is an American thriller from 1990 . It was directed by Larry Cohen , who also wrote the script.

action

Josh Baker is an illustrator based in New York City . He meets a woman on the street who passes out. She is taken in an ambulance. When Baker tries to visit her in the hospital, he finds that she was never admitted. Similar cases are increasing - what women have in common is that they suffer from diabetes . Baker and Policeman Spencer are investigating. It turns out that the women were kidnapped to be used for illegal medical experiments.

Reviews

Film-Dienst wrote that the "horror thriller" was "richly constructed, but entertaining" . He creates "an" old-fashioned "tension" with a minimum of action .

The magazine Cinema wrote that the film was "also suitable for moderate nerves" . His plot is reminiscent of "the legendary TV thriller " Meat "by Rainer Erler " . The "really great tension" still remains.

The film was nominated for the Saturn Award in 1994 in the category Best Genre Video Release .
