Eric Braeden (born April 3, 1941 in Bredenbek ; actually Hans-Jörg Gudegast ) is a German-American actor .

Life

Braeden grew up as the mayor's son in the small town of Bredenbek between Kiel and Rendsburg in Schleswig-Holstein. As early as 1959 he emigrated to the USA, where he was best known as a soap opera actor through the series Shadows of Passion (Orig. The Young and The Restless ). In 1997 Braeden received the Emmy television award for his work . In total he appeared in over 120 television and film productions, including a. 1970 in Colossus , 1971 in Escape from the Planet of the Apes and 1997 in Titanic .

In 1989, Braeden founded the German-American Cultural Society , for which he received the Federal Cross of Merit in 1992, the Cross of Merit 1st Class in 2003 and the Grand Cross of Merit in 2005. Braeden has been an honorary citizen of his home town Bredenbek ( Rendsburg-Eckernförde district ) in Schleswig-Holstein since 1998 .

On July 20, 2007, he was honored at 7021 Hollywood Blvd. relocated the 2342nd star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame .

Eric Braeden is the father of Christian Gudegast, an American director and screenwriter.
