Barney Martin

Barney Martin (born March 3, 1923 in Queens , New York , † March 21, 2005 in Studio City near Los Angeles , California ) was an American actor.

Former cop Martin was spotted for the film by Mel Brooks . He made his first appearance in Brooks' comedic musical The Producers / Spring for Hitler . Martin worked successfully as a comedian, author for various television productions and as an actor in mostly comical roles such as in the sequels to Arthur - No Child of Sadness (here he played the father of Liza Minnelli ) or Splash . He also played guest or recurring roles in numerous TV series. Best known is his role as Morty Seinfeld , the father of Jerry Seinfeld in his sitcom, which he took over from Philip Bruns in 1990 and impersonated until the series was discontinued in 1998.

Barney Martin was married with two children.
