Karen McDougal (born March 23, 1971 in Merrillville , Indiana ) is an American actress and model .

Life

McDougal was born in the American town of Merrillville near Gary . After winning a beauty contest, she gave up her job as a preschool teacher and started working as a model and hostess. In December 1997, McDougal was featured as "Playmate of the Month" in the US edition of Playboy . She was later voted "Playmate of the Year 1998".

She became a sought-after fitness model and was featured on the covers of US fitness magazines several times .

McDougal has Native American ( Cherokee ) and Irish ancestors.

In February 2018, she publicly stated that she had an affair with Donald Trump (US President since January 2017) from June 2006 to April 2007 . You met him at the property of Playboy founder Hugh Hefner in Los Angeles, where Trump was filming an episode of his TV show The Apprentice . This affair took place parallel to the alleged affair with the porn actress Stormy Daniels , denied by Trump, and thus one year after his wedding to Melania Trump . The National Enquirer paid $ 150,000 for this exclusive story, but never published it. Editor David Pecker bought this potentially explosive story not to print, but to "bury" it or to have extortionate material against the president - a practice known in the media as "catch and kill".

McDougal filed a lawsuit against American Media Inc. in March 2018 , spoke publicly about the affair and apologized to Melania Trump. The process ended in April 2018 with an out-of-court settlement that allowed McDougal, among other things, to speak about the affair with Donald Trump.

In August 2018, Trump's longtime attorney, Michael Cohen , admitted in court that he had paid hush money to McDougal and Daniels on Trump's behalf just before the November 8, 2016 presidential election .
