Tom Green (actually Michael Thomas Green ; born July 30, 1971 in Pembroke ) is a Canadian comedian and television presenter .

Life

In Pembroke, Canada born, Tom Green grew up in Ottawa , where he later the show The Midnight Caller on the University -own radio station CHUO the Algonquin College got. In 1990 he became a DJ and speaker for the rap show there . In the early 90s he acted as a rapper in the band Organized Rhyme .

After graduating from college in 1994, he hosted his first television show on Rogers Community Television , an Ottawa television station. The Tom Green Show became such a huge success that the major Canadian television broadcaster CBC aired a pilot episode of the show but stopped broadcasting this season due to low audience ratings .

On July 7, 2001, he married actress Drew Barrymore , but the marriage was divorced on October 15, 2002 after Barrymore had left him in December 2001.

On his Tom Green Show , he interviewed unsuspecting people, played pranks on them and snubbed passers-by and sometimes celebrities with hidden cameras. He even made victims of his own parents, Mary and Richard, who often couldn't laugh at them.

Since 1997, the show has been broadcast across Canada. She ran on Comedy Network for two years until MTV bought her in 1999. Tom Green became known in the United States .

He hosted his show together with Glenn Humplik as a sidekick, comparable to Elton from TV total , who had to do trivial tasks on the show and was also tricked, as well as Phil Giroux , a man who sat behind Green's desk and didn't speak anything, just coffee drank and laughed when something funny happened. The latter film was awarded five Golden Raspberries in 2001, which are awarded to the worst films of the year.

  • In March 2000, Tom Green was diagnosed with testicular cancer. Green made a one-hour special out of this situation in which he reported on his ordeal and the surgical procedure.
