history
The place was first mentioned in 1545 as Klein Neundorff . Originally, Neudorf and Ruhethal formed a community. In 1957 Lieske (Malschwitz) was incorporated, in 1977 the neighboring Halbendorf / Spree followed . As a result of the municipal reform in 1994, the municipality was incorporated into Guttau together with Kleinsaubernitz . On January 1, 2013, Guttau was incorporated into Malschwitz. There was a school in Neudorf, but the building is now empty and is to be sold.
The majority of the population was Sorbian-speaking until the 20th century . Arnošt Muka had a total of 182 inhabitants in 1884, 172 of them Sorbs (95%). By 1956, the Sorbian-speaking population had fallen to 37%.
