Known as Hermansdorf in 1315 , Oberhermsdorf was called Hermerstorf in 1445 and 1447 . In 1547 the place was called Oberhermsdorff . The village was laid out as a square village.
In the 19th century, hard coal was mined in the Oberhermsdorf area .
Incorporations
Oberhermsdorf was merged on January 1, 1973 with the communities Braunsdorf and Kleinopitz to form the community Braunsdorf. On March 1, 1994 the community of Braunsdorf was incorporated with Oberhermsdorf after Kesselsdorf . Kesselsdorf in turn was merged with Wilsdruff on August 1, 2001, with Oberhermsdorf, Braunsdorf and Kleinopitz being detached from Kesselsdorf again and added to Wilsdruff as independent districts.
