The regional transport Dresden GmbH (RVD) was a transport company in the Dresden area . The RVD GmbH bus routes are integrated into the Upper Elbe transport association . The traffic area included the area of the former Weißeritzkreis in the Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains district and parts of the state capital Dresden .

The company in the legal form of a GmbH was 51% owned by the Oberelbische Verkehrsgesellschaft Pirna-Sebnitz (OVPS) and 49% owned by the district of Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains . Since January 1, 2019, RVD and OVPS merged, with OVPS as the receiving company and RVD as the transferring company. In the merger agreement, it was determined that OVPS would in future operate under the name Regionalverkehr Sächsische Schweiz-Osterzgebirge GmbH (RVSOE).

history

General

The company was founded on December 6, 1991 as the successor to the passenger transport division of VEB Kraftverkehr Dresden . When it was founded, RVD GmbH had 168 buses, including 40 articulated buses . The Weißeritzkreis as the former sole owner of the transport company sold 51% of Regionalverkehr Dresden GmbH to DB Regio AG.

RVD vehicles are usually silver with a red and blue stripe at the bottom. But now there are also completely red or completely white colored ones.

Line network development

Between August and December 2008 the lines 208 (Pirna - Dippoldiswalde ) and 211 (Pirna - Freital ) operated together with the OVPS. However, the number of passengers remained well below expectations, so that the last trips were made on December 23, 2008. In June 2013, Regionalverkehr Dresden GmbH opened a new depot in Altenberg .

On February 16, 2014, RVD GmbH and DVB AG introduced the new Freital route network. As of January 1, 2018, a total of 19 lines were transferred to other transport companies. Since then, five lines have been operated by the Meißen transport company and 14 lines by Regionalbus Oberlausitz. For regional traffic in Dresden, it was ensured that a direct allocation could be obtained in its own service area.

merger

The district of Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains endeavored from the district reform to take over the company completely and to standardize the regional bus transport in the district, which is currently also operated in the old district of Saxon Switzerland by the Upper Elbian transport company Pirna-Sebnitz , in order to also standardize an otherwise in to circumvent the necessary tendering of regional traffic. The project failed for a long time because of the Deutsche Bahn, which did not want to sell its shares. In the summer of 2016 it became known that Deutsche Bahn had agreed to negotiate after a while. The takeover has now been decided by the district council, and the contract was finally sealed at the end of September. The contract became legally valid on January 1st, 2017, since then the shares and thus also the company belong to OVPS.

The railway logo has disappeared from the RVD GmbH logo since the change of ownership, the route network will initially be retained. However, it is planned to focus on the Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains district and leave the lines in the other areas to the respective districts.

Both companies, which together have 232 buses and employ 565 people (as of 2018), remained in parallel for the time being. This was followed by the merger with OVPS, namely through the merger of the former Oberelbische Verkehrsgesellschaft Pirna-Sebnitz (OVPS) (receiving company) and Regionalverkehr Dresden (RVD) (transferring company) with effect from January 1, 2019 under the renaming of OVPS to RVSOE. The company expired on January 1st, 2019.

Line network

In total, RVD GmbH offered 40 bus routes in public transport (as of 2018). The long-distance bus routes operated until 2016 were offered together with various companies within the BLB network . The public transport network covered 2006 km.

The RVD line with the highest number of passengers was the Freital city bus line A.
