As in the entire Freitaler area, the coal mining operated until 1930 was the most important employer. On January 1, 1974, Kleinnaundorf was incorporated into the city of Freital. The former Windbergbahn , whose tracks have since been removed, ran through Kleinnaundorf . The former embankments of the former coal railway are located south of the town and have been expanded as hiking and cycling trails. To this end, the embankment has been gradually asphalted since May 2015 and the bridges have new railings.

In 2015 Kleinnaundorf took part in the competition “ Our village has a future ”. For the next, the clubhouse and a culture and leisure center including a bowling alley are planned on the centrally located fairground opposite the school .
