Müglitztal is a municipality in the Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains district , but geographically it is in the Ore Mountains foothills . It belongs to the administrative community Dohna-Müglitztal . The administrative seat is in Weesenstein . The center of the state capital Dresden is 22 kilometers northwest of Müglitztal.
geography
The municipality of Müglitztal, which lies on the Müglitz , is located in the deeply cut valley of the same name in the hilly foreland of the Eastern Ore Mountains, with the exception of the districts Maxen and Burkhardswalde . The districts of Burkhardswalde and Maxen are located on a plateau west of the valley above Mühlbach.
The highest point of the municipality is at 396 m above sea level. NN at the Drei Linden above Mühlbach . The lowest point is in the Müglitztal at an altitude of 153 m above sea level. NN .
Community structure
The community includes the districts Burkhardswalde, Crotta , Falkenhain (with Ploschwitz ), Maxen, Mühlbach (with Häselich ), Schmorsdorf and Weesenstein .
history
During the GDR era, children relaxed in a holiday camp that was set up in the Hartmannmühle .
As part of a municipal reform , the municipalities of Burkhardswalde, Maxen, Mühlbach and Weesenstein merged on March 1, 1994 to form the new municipality of Müglitztal.
The community area, especially Weesenstein, was repeatedly badly affected by the floods of the Müglitz in the past. Serious damage occurred mainly in 1927 and 2002 . The railway line was interrupted for a long time, houses and bridges were destroyed and the park of Weesenstein Castle was devastated.
