Schmorsdorf is a district of the municipality of Müglitztal in the Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains district in Saxony and is located near Maxen , around 18 kilometers from Dresden city center in the southeast of the state capital.

The imposing lime tree in the middle of the village is remarkable in Schmorsdorf . The age of this linden tree is estimated to be 400 to 800 years. The tree was first mentioned in writing during the Thirty Years War around 1630 . Today the linden tree is under nature protection.

Museums

On May 27, 2006, the Clara Schumann Linden Museum was opened under the old Schmorsdorfer linden tree . It is probably Germany's smallest free-standing museum with 6.85 m², also the only German linden museum and the only museum for Clara Schumann . Next to the museum there are three old distance columns (lapidary) and a bronze bust by Clara Schumann.
