Adolf Gräßmann

Adolf Gräßmann (born April 20, 1938 in Bad Kissingen ) is a German biochemist and doctor .

Life

Adolf Gräßmann is the inventor of microinjection , the introduction of, for example, DNA into the cytoplasm or the nucleus of a cell with the help of a microcapillary .

In 1968, while still a doctoral student, Adolf Gräßmann developed the process of microinjection, which today is one of the standard cell biological processes. In 1970 he completed his habilitation as a private lecturer in biochemistry at the Free University of Berlin . In the same year he was appointed head of the Viral Carcinogenesis department there, and in 1975 he was appointed professor.

Gräßmann, who wrote over 100 specialist publications, was awarded the Johann Georg Zimmermann Medal for cancer research in 1975 and the German Cancer Prize for experimental cancer research in 1994.

Since his retirement he has been a sculptor (marble and granite) and author.
