history

“Häseligt” on a map from the 19th century

The place name is of German origin and means "settlement on the hazel bushes ". The town of Oberhäslich near Dippoldiswalde and Heeselicht near Stolpen have the same origins . The place was first mentioned in a document in 1408 as "Heselich". After that, several different spellings were in use, including "Heßlicht", "Heselicht" and "Häseligt".

The owners of the manor in nearby Maxen exercised the manorial rule in the place from the 16th century . Häselich was parish in the 16th century to Burkhardswalde, then to Maxen. Administration was initially the responsibility of the Pirna Office and then in 1856 the Pirna Court Office. Due to its small size, Häselich belonged to the rural community of Maxen until around 1860, when it came to the newly formed rural community of Mühlbach. As part of Mühlbach, Häselich belonged to the Pirna Authority in 1875 , and then to the Pirna District during the GDR . Häselich never achieved municipal independence. That is why it does not form an independent district of Müglitztal even today, but still belongs to Mühlbach.
