The Lerchenberg is an elevation in the Bannewitz village of Börnchen not far from Dresden in the Erzgebirge foreland in Saxony .
Location and surroundings
The Lerchenberg rises three kilometers east of Rabenau (Saxony) and two kilometers south of Possendorf in the lower Eastern Ore Mountains . There is a mountain inn on the top of the unwooded mountain.
geology
The Lerchenberg is located immediately north of the Karsdorfer Fault and thus belongs to a striking ridge to which the Quohrener Kipse and the Wilisch also belong further east . The Lerchenberg is mainly formed by gneiss conglomerates from the Rotliegend of the Döhlen basin . At the foot of the mountain towards Oelsa there are also the gneisses typical of the Ore Mountains.
