Ernst Sommerschuh (born January 14, 1844 in Rippien near Bannewitz , † July 27, 1905 in Dresden- Räcknitz ; full name: Traugott Ernst Sommerschuh ) was a German architect and builder .

Live and act

Sommerschuh studied 1863-1865 at the building school of the Dresden Art Academy and worked 1866-1867 at the city building department in Dresden , then 1867-1869 with Hermann Nicolai . From 1873 he worked independently with Gustav Rumpel under the name “Sommerschuh & Rumpel, master builder, Bureau for architecture and construction in Dresden”; the partnership ended in 1901.

His grave is in the Possendorf cemetery .

  • 1894: Bankhaus Rocksch in Dresden, Schloßstraße (destroyed)
  • 1894–1895: Group of residential and commercial buildings with restaurant Goethegarten in (Dresden-) Blasewitz , Schillerplatz 1/2/3 (under monument protection)
  • 1897: Dresdner Bank building in Dresden, König-Johann-Straße 3 (in collaboration with Kurt Diestel )
  • 1899: Bankhaus Günther & Rudolph (later Allgemeine Deutsche Credit-Anstalt ) in Dresden, Altmarkt (destroyed)
  • 1900: Apartment building in Dresden, George-Bähr-Straße 20

The Summer Shoe Foundation

In 1904, the Summer Shoe Foundation was established by Ernst Sommerschuh. In 2000 this foundation was re-established by the municipal council of the municipality of Bannewitz; it serves charitable purposes.
