Dittersbach is located in the northern part of the municipality. The district extends in the north to the Karswald with the Reinhardtswalde deserted area belonging to the municipality of Arnsdorf in the Bautzen district . North-east lies the district Wilschdorf , in the east bordering a narrow tongue of the Stolpner district Helmsdorf . The southern district boundary runs again within the community with Dürrröhrsdorf in the southeast, Elbersdorf in the south and Wünschendorf in the most south-westerly corner. To the west is the Dresden district of Eschdorf with the raisin village and a little to the north of it is Rossendorf .

Federal road 6 runs directly north of the local border and can be reached via Wilschdorf in the east and via Eschdorf and state road 177 in the west.

history

Dittersbach manor, castle

The place was laid out as a Waldhufendorf during the German settlement in the east and was first mentioned in 1299 as Ditterichespach , the name goes back to a locator Dietrich. A church is mentioned in the Meißner diocese register in 1346. In connection with Otto Karaz de Diterispach , an entry was made in the feudal book of Friedrich des Strengen in 1350 , which is also considered evidence of a manor in the village. Later, documented forms of the place name are Tytrichspach (1406), Dyterichsbach (1412), Dytirsbach (1414) and around 1600 already Dittersbach . To distinguish it from other places with the same name, the addition at Stolpen was also used.

For the year 1446 a saddle yard and a Vorwerk are occupied. In 1554, the electoral chancellor Hieronymus Kiesewetter bought the Dittersbach manor and the associated villages of Eschdorf, Wünschendorf and Bonnewitz . He had the castle built from 1555 , while a previous moated castle was built over.

Former paper mill at Wesenitz (1976)

On April 25, 1559 Kiesewetter granted the Dresden papermaker Hieronymus Schaffhirt the right to build a paper mill on the Wesenitz in Dittersbach. Four years after the paper mill was refurbished, it burned down in 1859. An industrial company was set up in the rebuilt paper factory during the GDR era.

Belvedere Nice height

After several changes of ownership of the manor, Johann Gottlob von Quandt acquired it in 1829 with the villages of Eschdorf, Dürrröhrsdorf, Rossendorf and Zeschnig . The Goethe admirer had a belvedere built in his honor on the " Schönen Höhe " by Joseph Thürmer in 1831–1833 , which Carl Gottlieb Peschel decorated with frescoes of ballads by Goethe from 1836 onwards.

With the opening of the Arnsdorf – Pirna railway line , Dittersbach was connected to the railway network. In May 1998, passenger traffic on the Arnsdorf – Dürrröhrsdorf line was discontinued, which means that only the nearby Dürrröhrsdorf station can be used for passenger traffic (Pirna – Neustadt – Bad Schandau).

The castle was sold from the Quandt family property to the Leuschner family in 1883. They had it rebuilt in 1885/1886, which gave it its wings. The city of Dresden bought the castle in 1925 and built a rest home in it.

In 1965 Dürrröhrsdorf and Dittersbach merged to form Dürrröhrsdorf-Dittersbach.

church

Rectory and church Dittersbach

The church mentioned in 1346 and the rectory burned down in 1660 with all the documents. The newly built Dittersbacher church was consecrated in 1662, six years later the annual Dittersbacher fair took place for the parish fair for the first time . The rebuilt rectory is now the second oldest house in Dittersbach after the castle. The Dittersbacher Kirche is best known for Gottfried Silbermann's organ .
