The Dresden District Court is a court of ordinary jurisdiction and one of a total of 30 district courts in the Free State of Saxony .

Seat and District of the Court

The judicial district of the Dresden District Court encompasses the urban area of Dresden ( Section 1, Paragraph 4, Annex No. 8 of the Saxon Justice Act). The headquarters of the tribunal is since September 2012 in Dresden, Rossbach Road 6. The Land Registry, the bankruptcy department, the registration court, the supervision department and the enforcement department are based in Dresden, Olbrichtplatz 1. Superior courts

The Dresden District Court is located in the district of the Dresden Regional Court . Further higher-level courts are the Dresden Higher Regional Court and the Federal Court of Justice .

The Dresden District Court is - along with the Chemnitz and Leipzig District Courts - one of the three presidential district courts in Saxony. Supervision of the Dresden District Court as a judicial administrative authority (ie non-judicial activity) is therefore incumbent on the President of the Dresden Higher Regional Court. The supervisory authority of all other local courts is the president of the respective local regional court and then the president of the higher regional court.
