The Waldhufendorf Grünberg is a district of Ottendorf-Okrilla in the Bautzen district in Saxony .
geography
Grünberg is located northwest of Radeberg . The Rote Graben flows into the Große Röder in the center of the village . The neighboring Diensdorf also belongs to the district of Grünberg .
history
The earliest settlement finds date from the Young Bronze Age and indicate that Grünberg was a settlement point very early on.
Grünberg was mentioned for the first time in 1346 in the register of the diocese of Meißen and in 1378 it belonged to the Dresden castrum . The Lords of Grunenberg, Grunberk existed before 1346.
In the 16th century there were repeated attempts to mine in Grünberg . In 1590 Grünberg was in the district of the Dresden office. There is evidence that an old manor was first mentioned in 1696, ie a manor that was not subject to the court of the Radeberg Office, but had its own jurisdiction . The rule of the manor exercised inheritance and higher jurisdiction.
At the beginning of the 17th century, Grünberg was owned by Johann von Schönberg and in 1741 by Count Adam Friedrich von Flemming . The governor , burgrave and count zu Dohna was in 1819 lord of Grünberg. In 1804 he built an industrial school in the castle . About 40 children from Grünberg and the surrounding area were taught there.
In 1819 the estate was owned by the von Heynitz family . From 1856 Grünberg was subordinate to the Radeberg court office and from 1875 to the Dresden administration. On October 1, 1864, Grünberg merged to the left of the Röder and Diensdorf to the right of the Röder to form Grünberg-Diensdorf. This name existed until the beginning of the 20th century.
In 1969 and 1970 investigations were carried out with the aim of building a reservoir. According to the plans, in addition to Grünberg, a large part of the Seifersdorfer Valley and the Red Trench as far as Langebrück would have sunk into the water. The encountered soil conditions did not allow an economic implementation, so that the plans were abandoned.
Grünberg has been a district of Ottendorf-Okrilla since January 1st, 1994. In 1996 Grünberg celebrated the 650th anniversary.
In addition to viticulture in the corridors in the direction of Hermsdorf , the main occupations were agriculture and linen weaving . In 1985 there were 450 inhabitants in Grünberg and today there are around 600 inhabitants. The townscape is characterized by single-family houses and terraced houses.
